Championing Institutional Growth
Becky Lee Named Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Texas Tech Health El Paso
Texas Tech Health El Paso has selected a native El Pasoan as its next vice president for Institutional Advancement.
Becky Lee, who currently serves as Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships & Suites for El Paso Locomotive FC, will lead the comprehensive strategy to secure philanthropic support, manage marketing and communications, and forge community partnership to advance Texas Tech Health El Paso's mission of improving health care in our Borderplex. She begins her role on Dec. 1.
“I’m honored to serve in the role of Vice President Texas Tech Health El Paso’s Office of Institutional Advancement, joining a skilled and passionate group of professionals who are dedicated to improving our community and empowering future generations of health care leaders,” said Lee. “I’m committed to continuing this work every day and look forward to connecting with our region and business leaders in the hometown I love so much.”
Lee is a graduate of Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business. She began her career in marketing with Southwest Airlines in Phoenix before joining the NBA’s Phoenix Suns and WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, where she worked in corporate partnerships and managed the team’s largest sponsorship at that time. In 2010, she returned to her hometown of El Paso to join the University of Texas at El Paso Special Events team, overseeing marketing and public relations for major events at the Sun Bowl and Don Haskins Center. That following year, she became Associate General Manager for UTEP Miner IMG.
In 2013, Lee became the first full-time staff member hired by MountainStar Sports Group senior management, serving as Director of Corporate Partnerships for the El Paso Chihuahuas. She later advanced to Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships & Suites for El Paso Locomotive FC during its inaugural season in 2019, while remaining part of the Chihuahuas Executive Leadership team.
In her 13 years with MountainStar, Lee and her team have been responsible for securing millions of dollars in sponsorship commitments and long-term agreements, including naming rights for Southwest University Park.
“The Institutional Advancement team has built incredible momentum, and I’m excited to immediately put my energy and experience into this next chapter of growth,” said Lee. “Our focus is clear: to connect the generosity of our community champions with the core mission of Texas Tech Health El Paso—to grow our own health care leaders who will serve this community, advance life-changing research, and improve the health of our unique Borderplex region.”
Among Lee’s top priorities will be the continuation of the Fox Cancer Center’s Building Hope Campaign. This historic initiative supports the construction of the region’s first comprehensive cancer center, which is now being built on the Texas Tech Health El Paso campus, and will deliver world-class care to Borderplex cancer warriors.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Becky Lee to our Texas Tech Health El Paso family and the institution’s leadership team,” said Texas Tech Health El Paso President Richard Lange, M.D., M.B.A. “Becky brings a wealth of experience and a proven commitment to serve the community where she was raised. Her vision, expertise and leadership will be instrumental as we continue to grow our impact and create opportunities that will transform the lives of our students and patients.”
Lee succeeds Andrea Tawney, Ph.D., who is stepping down after seven years of visionary service to the institution and our Borderplex. Under her leadership, the Office of Institutional Advancement has raised over $90 million in philanthropic support for the university.
