This National Philanthropy Day, We Invite You to Shape the Future of Health Care in Our Borderplex

Across our Borderplex, we often say we’re more than a community — we’re a family. That’s why GECU is driven by a simple yet impactful value: People Helping People. This is more than a philosophy, it’s our promise.

People Helping People is why we’ve been honored to invest in Texas Tech Health El Paso’s vision to elevate health care for generations to come. Today, as we celebrate National Philanthropy Day, I’m proud to reflect on our longstanding partnership, and encourage you to join us in shaping a healthier, stronger future for our Borderplex region.

Over the years, we’ve proudly supported initiatives that strengthen that promise. After starting with smaller investments, we saw the impact any size gift could have and began growing our support.  Over the years, we have given to the Hunt School of Dental Medicine and its clinic, which continues to expand access to dental care for countless families, and a $100,000 gift to create the first-ever full-tuition scholarships for four students in the school’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

This year, GECU pledged $10 million over the next 10 years to establish the GECU Women’s Health Wing in the new Fox Cancer Center. With the support of our Board of Directors, we are honored to contribute to one of the most significant investments in public health in our history.

Women are often the heartbeat of families, caring for those around them even as they face their own health battles. Their strength, resilience and leadership have shaped our community. With the 34,818-square-foot GECU Women’s Health Wing, they now have a place focused on their health that will provide world-class care for generations to come.

Cancer touches us all, and too often, families in our region travel hundreds of miles for lifesaving treatment. The Fox Cancer Center will change that reality by becoming a place where cutting-edge research, advanced treatment, prevention and comprehensive cancer care come together under one roof.

With the help of our community’s cancer warriors and the dedication of the GECU team, this transformational gift reflects our unwavering belief that everyone deserves world-class care close to home. This is one of the most critical, unifying projects our community can rally behind.

This National Philanthropy Day, I invite our community of individuals, families and organizations to support charities that will move El Paso forward, just as we did for the patients and families who’ll walk through the doors of the Fox Cancer Center with courage and hope. No matter the gift amount, every dollar counts in this effort. Stand with a community that has always proven when we work together, there is nothing we can’t accomplish.

Together, we can shape the future at Texas Tech Health El Paso. A future where world-class care, innovation and opportunity are available to the community we call family.
